Boys Track & Field: Germantown Academy Finishes Second at Inter-Ac Championships

PHILADELPHIA -- Records were broken, and champions were crowned for Germantown Academy's boys track and field team at Inter-Ac League Championships. The Patriots compiled 95 points as team and finished as league runners-up.

The throwers opened the competition on Friday, May 10 at Germantown Academy. Despite rainy conditions, the Patriots performed well.

Mario Toscano '24 placed third in the Discus with a 138' 8" throw, while Gavin Fountain '24 took fourth with a 138' toss. David Mendte '25 placed fifth (135' 3"), CJ Mersky '24 took seventh (127' 4"), and Ansh Kakadia '24 took ninth (112' 1").

Fountain and Mersky finished 5-6 in the Shot Put, throwing 47' 9", and 47' 6", respectively. Jet Dickerson '26 finished third in the Javelin with a PR of 132' 11". Overall, the throwers contributed 15 points to the GA team total.

On Saturday, May 11, the Patriots took to Penn Charter for the second portion of the Championship Meet.

Ellis Johnson '25 won the 110m Hurdles in 15.98, while Adrian Diem '25 claimed the Pole Vault title by clearing 13' 6". Robert Bright '25 finished second in the Pole Vault, clearing 13'. 

Evan Badami '26 finished second in the 400m in 48.4, breaking his previous school record of 48.91 which he set on April 10. The sophomore also took second in the 200m, running the race in a school-record time of 22.09. Blake Brown '24 took second in the Long Jump, clearing 21' 8.25". The senior also took third in the Triple Jump with a season-best mark of 42' 7.5", and sixth in the 110 Hurdles. Finishing fifth in the Triple Jump with a PR of 40' 7" was Sam Anyan '27

Dickerson went 42.20 to finish third in the 300m Hurdles. Luke Philip '24 finished sixth in the 800m, going 2:06.70. 

The 4x800 team consisting of Walter Mulroy '26, Ethan Na '26, Philip and Badami took third in the event, going 8:28.14. The 4x400 team of Brady McDonough '26, Brown, Philip, and Badami also took third, crossing the finish line in 3:33.28.

The Patriots continue their season on May 18 at Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Championships, hosted by Malvern Prep.
